Kinetic Chains & Compound Exercises

Kinetic Chains:

Kinetic chains refer to the interconnected movement of joints and muscles in the body during physical activity. Think of it as a chain reaction, where the movement of one joint affects the movement of another. Your body works as a unit, and individual exercises like bicep curls just don't do the trick!!

Compound Exercises:

Compound Exercises are Lifting exercises that work these Kinetic chains by using multiple muscles. They engage several muscle groups at once building this muscle coordination, extremely important! Examples of Compound Exercises include:

  • Squats: Work the quads, hamstrings, glutes, and core.
  • Deadlifts: Work the back, hamstrings, glutes, and quadriceps.
  • Bench Press: Work the chest, triceps, and shoulders.
  • Pull-ups: Work the back, shoulders, biceps,

All of these exercises coordinate movement for improved athletic performance and functional strength, which translates into improved performance in everyday activities and in sport!
